My Teaching Philosophy

During my time in P.E. class, I had a couple of different teachers who displayed different types of teaching. My first teacher had a more laid-back teaching style and gave us more freedom. My second teacher showed a more structured view of physical education. I think this helped me more than having just one type of teacher because it showed what I as an educator can do to help my class or distract them. I would also like to give credit to my parents for putting me in as many sports as possible so that I could see what I liked and what wasn’t for me. Because of this I feel that I have a wide range of experiences that I could bring into my teaching. The type of teacher I want to be sort of depends on what kind of students I will be teaching. If I have younger kids, I would like to give them an easy and fun introduction to physical activity and hopefully not scare them out of trying new things. I will do this by following more of a laid-back teaching style as I mentioned that my first teacher did before. When teaching a more mature class I will aim to have more structure in my teaching. I will try to give them some freedom while also showing them the proper ways to exercise. However, this will also be a more educational and structured type of class as I show them what types of exercises are best and what they do. I will try to give structure to my class as my second teacher did when I was growing up.
